The Christian Church of Sumba (GKS) is a Protestant church and a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, established in 1947. Today, the church has congregations both on the island of Sumba in Indonesia, and in various cities outside of Sumba. The church has approximately 42,000 members and 240 congregations
The Christian Church of Sumba School of Theology (STT - Sekolah Tinggi Theologi) was established in 2005 as a seminary of the Christian Church of Sumba. Currently, STT is raising funds to provide scholarships for students from rural communities. The seminary receives little outside support for their academic programs and relies on tuition dollars for the work of the seminary. STT students eligible for scholarship support typically come from rice-farming communities in the surrounding areas around Sumba, Indonesia with a desire to learn theology and ministry. The seminary provides financial assistance to students as funds are available. However, the seminary reports there are additional student candidates from difficult circumstances who could benefit from a scholarship for their studies.
Special gifts to Global Ministries for increasing the amount of scholarship support provided for STT students will be allocated and awarded by the seminary’s leadership. Global Ministries welcomes gifts to support the Christian Church of Sumba School of Theology in providing scholarships for students.
