Shoulder to Shoulder: Sharing our Ramadan Road Trip Mini-doc!

The United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are founding members of the Shoulder to Shoulder campaign and coalition, which developed a 2019 Ramadan Road Trip.  The Shoulder to Shoulder  team visited 5 Iftars in the American Southeast in order to show the diversity of the American Muslim community and uplift stories of people coming together across difference.

As a result, we are excited to share their 15-minute Ramadan Road Trip 2019 Mini-Doc and accompanying discussion guide that highlights the experience of how communities are creating spaces where individuals and communities can move out of their bubbles to encounter their neighbors and find common ground.

There will be a series of 6 short videos (topically focused) to follow, so be on the lookout for that!

After over 60 interviews and storybooth conversations in Raleigh, NC; Louisville, KY; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Clarkston, GA; and Washington, D.C., the Ramadan Road Trip team developed a series of videos, highlighting the overall experience and a collection of conversations and stories about Ramadan, being Muslim in America, the importance of interfaith community building, how to be a better ally, and more.

In these conversations we discover what gives us hope and what breaks our hearts. Together with hundreds of other conversations, these communities are building relationships and trust together to build an America where people of all faiths and cultural backgrounds are treated respectfully, fairly, and with dignity.
