Take Action: ALL Israeli Settlements are Illegal [CMEP]
Illegal Israeli settlements are a primary obstacle to any just and sustainable peace agreement which will result in human rights and security for ALL Palestinians and Israelis. The UCC and Disciples care deeply about all Palestinians and Israelis, and are members of Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP). Join CMEP in telling President Obama, “Be courageous. Support a UNSC resolution calling ALL settlements illegal!”
On November 23, CMEP’s Executive Director Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon led a panel of Washington experts in a webinar discussion entitled “Prospects for Peace: Obama’s Last Stand and Opportunities in the New Administration.” These experts concluded that the most courageous act President Obama could make in his remaining time in office would be to support a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution that clearly states that all Israeli settlements are illegal.
Rev. Dr. Cannon has written a letter to President Obama asking him to support such a UNSC resolution and will personally deliver this letter to White House in the coming weeks.
In this critical moment, we need to amplify our voices. Take action here and ask your members of Congress to contact the White House and tell President Obama that they support Rev. Dr. Cannon’s letter. Let it be known that you are among the multitudes of Americans who support this letter and want the U.S. to support a UNSC resolution call all Israeli settlements illegal.
