When I speak to Americans about the church in China, I find there is a lot of misinformation. Many Americans do not even know that there are any churches in China. While it is true that for a time Christian churches and all other religious groups were persecuted and silenced, much has changed over the last two decades. Not only are there active churches in China, but the churches in China are growing at the rate of two new churches every three days! Perhaps you know someone who has donated money for bibles to be smuggled into China. Some people still believe that the Bible is not available in China, or if it is, they wonder if it contains a Communist vision. The truth is that over 40 million bibles have been printed in China since 1980, at $1.50 a copy, and printed on government printing presses!

The Bible Ministry Exhibition of the Church in China will be held in Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York City (see dates below). Both UCC and Disciples are taking an active part of the events; both Rev. Dr. John Thomas and Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, General Ministers and Presidents of our two denominations, are members of Advisory Committee of the Exhibition in the U.S. I also encourage you to observe the exhibition as a way to celebrate the ministries of our partner in China, the China Christian Council.
