WCC: “Stop annexation, end the occupation” campaign will pave path for just peace in Palestine and Israel
Stop annexation, end the occupation,” a new, multi-faceted campaign running from 21 May to 11 June, will pave a path for just peace in Palestine and Israel.

Organized by the World Council of Churches (WCC) through its Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel, the campaign will highlight local voices candidly communicating about the realities of daily life under occupation and how violations of international law affect individuals, families, and communities.

The campaign will address forced displacement, de-facto annexation, and discrimination—and advocate collectively for policy change, including more active engagement in restarting a process for a just and sustainable resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The campaign will also urge implementation of the International Court of Justice advisory opinion about third-state responsibilities, and highlight local civil society initiatives for an end of the occupation and a just peace.

Two upcoming webinars are scheduled: the first, “Legal perspectives and the implications of current political realities for the occupied population” on 21 May, and the second, “Accompaniment, solidarity, and joint action for justice and peace,” on 5 June.
These webinars—along with stories, social media, and fact sheets—will highlight the voices of local communities as well as ecumenical accompaniers who have lived and witnessed many injustices. These personal reflections are at the heart of the campaign.
Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC programme director for Life, Justice, and Peace, reflected that, in the face of prolonged suffering and deepening injustice across the region, it is crucial that we speak with moral clarity and stand on the foundation of truth and justice.
“The ‘Stop annexation, end the occupation’ campaign seeks to amplify the voices of those enduring the daily realities of oppression, and to help pave a path toward a just and lasting peace—one that recognizes, protects, and affirms the shared humanity and dignity of all people in Palestine and Israel,” he said.
