International Work and Study Camp: Bringing Youth Together for Peace

The Forum for Development, Culture, and Dialogue FDCD and the Arab Group for Muslim Christian Dialogue are pleased to inform you that our annual International Work and Study Camp entitled ‘Bringing Youth Together for Peace’ will take place from July 3rd to July 13th 2009. The group will spend the first 5 days in Saydnaya, Syria, followed by 5 days in Dhour Chweir, Lebanon.

The Forum for Development, Culture, and Dialogue FDCD and the Arab Group for Muslim Christian Dialogue are pleased to inform you that our annual International Work and Study Camp entitled ‘Bringing Youth Together for Peace’ will take place from July 3rd to July 13th 2009. The group will spend the first 5 days in Saydnaya, Syria, followed by 5 days in Dhour Chweir, Lebanon.

This workshop is part of an ongoing program motivated by the conviction that interaction transforms relationships. The overall objective of the camp is to work with youth on the process of Dialogue and understanding through workshops, lectures, exercises and field visits. In this way, they will be exposed to positive alternatives and ways of dealing with their problems and with others, in a peaceful manner. Hopefully, this experience of dialogue in practice will give participants an opportunity to be a starting point of transformed and transforming relations. During the event, FDCD will also organize visits and meetings with religious leaders and organizations, as well as entertaining activities such as intercultural evenings and sightseeing trips.

We kindly ask you to nominate 1-2 participant(s) according to the following criteria. The nominee will have to fill out the attached application form and send it to us by June 1st, 2009.

Profile of participants: 

  • Open and sensitive 
  • Interested in interaction with other cultures and religions 
  • Willing to engage in dialogue 
  • 23-30 years old 
  • Good English language 

Participants are encouraged to bring material (such as pictures, music etc.) related to their country, culture, or organization, to share with the group.
