YWCA of Palestine: Keeping Hope Alive Amidst the Darkness

As we approach Easter this year, the world remains in turmoil. The COVID19 pandemic has created a global reality of suffering. Cases are still on the rise, hospitals are overwhelmed with patients, health frontline workers are overworked and the socio-economic implications are scary. While rich countries have received the vaccine, many poor countries are on the waitlist.

The pandemic has made life harder for Palestinians who continue to fight the daily oppression imposed by the Israeli occupation. Women and youth are most affected by the crisis. Cases of gender-based violence have increased dramatically since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020. The already bad economic conditions have become worse, which has led to a great decline in job opportunities, especially for young people, who are immensely affected by the political situation in Palestine.

Yet, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our savior, is a reminder that there is always light at the end of the tunnel! During these dark times, We, at the YWCA of Palestine, continue to keep hope alive for a brighter tomorrow and ask you to do the same.

Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed. Happy Easter!

Sincerely,
Amal Tarazi
