Latin American Council of Churches (CLAI)

Consejo Latino Americano de Iglesias

Latin American Council of Churches (CLAI) is an organization of churches and Christian movements founded in Huampaní, Lima on November of 1982. CLAI was created to promote the unity between Christians of the continent.

During the last quarter century, a group of churches and Christian organizations of the continent have wanted to go down the road in obedience to the Gospel to try to restore, in such a way as to be visible and with specific acts of witness and service, the witness that was given us in Jesus Christ. To these churches and agencies that inspire and motivate, here are the verses of the apostle Paul to the Ephesians: “3making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling”. (Ephesians 4:3-4)

CLAI has three objectives, to promote the unity of the people of God, to stimulate and support its members in the task of evangelization and to promote reflection and the pastoral and theological dialogue around the mission and the Christian witness in the continent.
