Marcy Dory named as Executive of Mission Education and Interpretation

Jan_7-3.jpgGlobal Ministries is delighted to announce the selection of Marcy Dory as Executive for Mission Education and Interpretation. Marcy has worked in the Mission Education and Interpretation office for 13 years and continues the work that is her passion.

Her previous position was Program Associate for Mission Education and Interpretation, where she helped organize the first biennial Missionworks event in Cleveland in 2002 and has been an integral part of every Missionworks since. She has been involved in the Ministries and Mission Interpreters program and Global Mission Church initiative since their beginnings. In 2015, she will participate in her seventh UCC General Synod. In addition, she has overseen four revisions to the Global Ministries website.

“I am grateful to be a part of the work of Global Ministries,” she said. “Most important to me has been applying my passion and compassion for a world of justice and fullness of life for all.”

Marcy has traveled with Global Ministries delegations to China, Hong Kong, Israel/Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon.

“It’s all about relationships,” she shares. “Everyone matters – from mission-minded church members to missionaries to global partners to staff. I’ve learned and grown from my relationships with all who share in this work. I’m grateful for those who have shared their journeys with me. Each relationship has energized and inspired my work.”

Marcy has been a member of the National Council of Churches Program Committee on Education for Mission for ten years and was the chair of the committee from 2007-2010.

A life-long Cleveland area resident, Marcy is a member of South Haven United Church of Christ in Bedford, Ohio. She has served the community as an Interfaith Hospitality Network volunteer and as a member of the Board of Directors for One World Shop, a non-profit fair trade store.

“I am thrilled to continue working with an amazing team” she shared. “We are all deeply committed to mission and ministry. The energy of our small team is exciting and empowering. Our successes and accomplishments are the results of what each of us brings to the work.”

Marcy began her work as Mission Education and Interpretation Executive on January 1, 2015 in the Cleveland office.
