East Jerusalem YMCA’s Rehabilitation Program in Palestine

East Jerusalem YMCA’s Rehabilitation Program in Palestine was launched in 1989 in response to the needs arising from the first Intifada related injuries and physical disabilities. The Al-Aqsa Intifada that started on 28 September 2000, re-enhanced the urgency of the Program to focus on the injuries and physical disabilities of the violence victims to achieve the Program’s goal of full integration of the physically disabled into their own community. In time, the Rehabilitation Program would also deliver psychosocial interventions for those in need of therapy, counseling groups, and resilience groups. Over more than 30 years in humanitarian action, the Rehabilitation Program has successfully helped clients re-integrate into their communities, by providing them qualitative and impact-proven rehabilitative and empowerment services.
