Nada’s Dream of Education

Nada’s Dream of Education

In the Hawara community of Egypt’s Minya Governorate, Nada Nabil refused to give up on her dream of learning.

Nada left school at just eight years old. Living with a physical disability made attending school difficult, and over time her education came to a halt. Yet the desire to read, write, and continue her studies never left her.

Through the BLESS Sustainable Development Programs—supported in part by One Great Hour of Sharing—Nada found a second chance. She enrolled in adult literacy classes offered in her community. With determination and the support of her mother, Nada attended the courses and began building the skills she had once been forced to leave behind.

After months of hard work, Nada successfully passed the literacy exam and earned her certificate.

Her journey does not stop there. Nada hopes to continue her education by enrolling in the preparatory stage and one day attending college.

“I want to continue my education,” she says. “I hope to go to college one day.”

Nada’s story reflects how access to education can restore confidence and open new possibilities. Through literacy programs and learning opportunities, BLESS is helping people across Egypt reclaim their futures.

This is a One Great Hour of Sharing impact story. Through the generosity of the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering, partners like BLESS are able to support programs that expand access to education, strengthen communities, and create new opportunities for people like Nada. Gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing help make stories of perseverance, learning, and hope possible in communities around the world.
