Ceremony of Giving Bibles to Bible Literacy Classes
Zhoukou City: A project team of 7 co-workers went to Luyi County, Shangshui County, and the Development Zone, and held a ceremony for issuing literacy classes at March 14-17.

A project team of seven co-workers (Jiao Xuewen,Tian Yide, Zhu Man, Meng Meihua, Wei Kunlun, Guo Huijie, Zheng Na) went to Luyi County, Shangshui County, and the Development Zone and held a ceremony for issuing literacy classes at March 14-17, 2009. The names of the nine churches are as follows: Luyi County: Luyi churches, Tianwa churches, Shangshui county: West Oral Churches, Shangshui County church, Yaozhuang Church, Lianji Church (has not been issued, issued as soon as Rev. Zhu comes), the Development Zone: Christ Church, Jiayao Church, Aiying Church, Nanxu Church. Every church was given 100 copies of the Bible, mainly for elderly people.
Global Ministries East Asia and Pacific office sent funds for this project, called Elders’ Eliminate Illiteracy of Zhoukou Christian Council, Zhoukou, Henan. 1000 copies of large-print Bibles have shipped from the Amity Foundation Printing Press to Zhoukou, Henan, a region where many people have HIV/AIDS.
In 2009, East Asia and Pacific Area Executive Xiaoling Zhu will travel with Amy Gopp from Week of Compassion, Phyllis Richards from One Great Hour of Sharing, Cally Rogers-Witte, Executive Minister of Wider Church Ministries (UCC) and co-executive of Global Ministries, Jane Sullivan Davis, Global Ministries Resource Development Executive, and a group of Disciples’ Seminarians. During their time in Zhoukou, they will see projects in tree planting and sustainable farming, mushroom growing, milking goats, and house building for HIV/AIDS families.
