Christmas Message 2020
Bishop Sani Ibrahim Azar
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land

Salaam and grace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1, 14)

Each year at Christmas, our thoughts turn toward Bethlehem.

Whether we can be there in person or not, our hearts are always there. This year—although so much has changed, and so much has not been as we hoped or expected—this one thing remains the same. As in years past, Christians everywhere gather near the manger with Mary and Joseph, to look with love upon the baby Jesus. Though we may be separated from our loved ones and friends, we are always one with the angels, the shepherds, and the visitors from the East, celebrating the birth of the Christ Child of Bethlehem, the One the world has been waiting for.
