Churches for Middle East Peace fall internship announcement
Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is a coalition of 21 Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox church bodies and agencies that work together on education and advocacy in support of U.S. policies that advance peace and justice for all peoples in the Middle East. CMEP works primarily on issues involving: peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Middle East, especially resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a negotiated two-state solution; human rights and arms control; and promotion of the sharing of Jerusalem by the two peoples and three faiths. We are seeking an intern for the fall semester, from September to December.

We are seeking an intern for the fall semester, from September to December.
Responsibilities will include:
· Conduct research on issues related to U.S. policy in the Middle East, including media coverage, historical documents, legislative actions and processes and church statements
· Compile information for and help create educational resource materials that will be disseminated to grassroots advocates
· Update media and congressional contact lists
· Help improve website presentation
· Assist with preparation and distribution of written communications to Congressional offices
· Contribute to office activities which include: mailing, copying, faxing, data entry and filing.
Interns will also have the opportunity to attend Congressional briefings and events related to Middle East issues.
Requirements: We are seeking a resourceful, hardworking and organized college or graduate student with excellent writing, editing and communication skills. Web research, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel/Access are necessary (FrontPage or Dreamweaver a plus). Must be creative, able to work independently and committed to Churches for Middle East Peace’s goals (for 10 guiding principles go to: http://www.cmep.org/AboutCMEP.html). Background in Middle East issues preferred.
Hours: flexible, around 15 hours/week; this is an unpaid internship.
