CMEP Action Alert: Tell Kerry,”Intensify U.S. Engagement!” in Middle
The United States needs to be a fair and honest broker and to do that we need our envoy, our representative, to be in the room!
Peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians are entering a new stage with Secretary John Kerry in Jerusalem this week. For negotiations to succeed, your voice is needed to ensure that a United States representative is present during essential conversations.
Since one of the main difficulties of the negotiations remains the complete lack of trust between the parties, it is crucial that the U.S. assert its commitment to the Palestinian and Israeli people’s right to live with security and dignity in their own sovereign state. This can only be done if our envoy is in the room.
“The negotiations are very serious,” says Gershon Baskin, “they are not deadlocked and significant progress has been made.” This is good news from a trusted source. But we know that if an end to the conflict is to be reached the U.S. must be fully present.
