Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) on Mercer Island, Washington reflects on Global Ministries partner video updates on COVID-19

In early April 2020, the Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) on Mercer Island, Washington decided to continue engaged with Global Ministries while the church began meeting virtually and while travel was becoming more restricted.

The church has been active in supporting the work of Global Ministries and Global Ministries partners for many years, and the series of Global Ministries partner video updates on the COVID-19 pandemic was an opportunity continue connecting the congregation with the work and realities of Global Ministries partners during the pandemic. Every Sunday since Easter 2020, the church shared a video update in their virtual gatherings on how global partners have been impacted by COVID-19 and how they are responding.

The church watched partner updates from Indonesia, Jordan, South Korea, Japan, Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Israel/Palestine, Sierra Leone, and Chile. In reflecting on the series, Reverend Roberta Rominger shares that having videos from these partners each week was especially poignant when the explosion happened in Beirut in August 2020, and the church went back to watch the Global Ministries video from Lebanon again.
