Christian Pentecostal Church of Cuba (ICPC)

Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal de Cuba
The Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal de Cuba (ICPC) is a Cuban Pentecostal denomination with roots stretching back to the mid-1950s, initially founded under the leadership of Puerto Rican missionary Luis Manuel Ortiz in Santiago de Cuba. Over time, the church reorganized under Cuban leadership, grew into a national body with a presence across the island, and developed local governance. ICPC emphasizes foundational Pentecostal doctrines such as the baptism in the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, divine healing, and the authority of Scripture. The church has sought to serve community needs, including investing in education and leadership training through its Bible institute, ELIM (founded 1959), building and maintaining church facilities, and addressing social issues within the Cuban context. It holds membership in ecumenical bodies such as the Cuban Council of Churches, the Latin American Council of Churches, and the Caribbean Conference of Churches, highlighting its dual identity as both charismatic and ecumenically engaged. Operating in a society marked by political, economic, and social challenges, the ICPC seeks to articulate a faith that is spiritually vibrant, socially responsive, and nationally rooted. As the church moves forward, it continues to navigate issues of religious freedom, leadership development, youth engagement, and community transformation—endeavoring to contribute to Cuban society while staying faithful to its Pentecostal heritage.
