Preparation for a pilgrimage to Kenya :  Commissioning Service

First Christian Church, Lafayette, Indiana is traveling to Kenya on a People-to-People Pilgrimage in May, 2007.  Under the leadership of Connie Schultz, and in consultation with the Global Ministries’ People-to-People Program, the group of eleven0 spent several months planning and preparing for this 14-day trip to visit Phyllis Byrd, our missionary in Kenya, and our partner, PCEA  (Presbyterian Church of East Africa). 

During the church’s May 6 worship service, the group was commissioned by the congregation.

The children of the church brought books for the children in Kenya.

The choir and children sang an African song, while the Choir director played the drums.
