Prayers for China

Almighty God,

You have blessed us and provided for our needs, especially during this pandemic. Through your Holy Spirit may we not only acknowledge these gifts but also have the courage and determination to use them to serve the people in accordance with your will.

As the disciples were confused by the problem of how to feed the thousands until they offered all that they had to Jesus. Lord, we open minds and hearts seeking a new vision in this difficult time to serve the people and show us what miracles can happen when we make a total commitment to you.

Lord, we pray for the people in China, especially the people who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent earthquakes in Yunnan province. Comfort the families of those who are deceased and give strength to those who are recovering. We pray that people will come to know the faith, hope, and love in you.

Lord, we pray for the people who are living in poverty in China. Please put your loving arms around them and light up the night and let them see the love.

Lord, we pray for the churches, seminaries, our mission partners, church leaders, and workers in China. We pray that you will encourage, strengthen, and equip them with wisdom to serve the people there.

God, help us to hear what you are still speaking and calling for our total commitment to caring and sharing your love with the people today and forever.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Mission Stewardship Moment from China

Light up the night and see the love

Qinghai province is located in the northwest of China. It is ranked fourth-largest in area, has the third-smallest population, and its economy is second-lowest in the country. Due to the insufficient power supply in the plateau region, there is often a power shortage. The students in those areas have to study under candlelight or with oil lamps at night. Such weak light not only affects the children’s learning efficiency but also can harm the development of the children’s vision.

In 2015, one of our mission partners in China, the Amity Foundation started the project called “The Mini Power Station in School Bag.” The goal of the project is to provide mini photovoltaic lighting systems for the students and teachers in the western mountainous areas to improve their situation. The supplies are easy to use, portable, safe, and pollution-free, including foldable solar panels, mobile power supplies, bulb lights, and LED folding lights. It can be carried in a school bag, charged by the sun during the day, and used at night. The cost of one mini power station is ¥230 RMB (Chinese currency) or $34 USD. It effectively solves the problem of insufficient power supply and lighting in the provinces of the western plateau.

By the end of 2020, Amity Foundation had donated 9,511 mini power stations to 47 schools in 14 different counties among 3 prefectures and cities in Qinghai province. And they plan to distribute more than 2000 more sets of mini power stations to the students in Qinghai and Sichuan provinces this year.

Please keep the people, our mission partners, and ministries in China in your prayers. Your generous donations are making a difference in the lives of the people we served in China.

Peace!
