Prayers for Jamaica
Faithful God, today we give you thanks for being our Jehovah Jireh, the one who supplies all our needs. We thank You that You are always there with us through all the changing scenes of life, in trouble and in joy. We pray for the people of Jamaica as we continue rebuilding after the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa and as we approach another hurricane season. God, our Protector, we ask for Your protection in the midst of the season, for we know You are able to calm the storms of life. Give us wisdom to prepare wisely so that we will be able to withstand devastating effects. Almighty God, we pray for the United Theological College of the West Indies, an institution which You have raised up to equip men and women for Your ministry in the Caribbean and beyond. We thank You for preserving this institution for the past sixty years. As we are now at a crossroads, facing a financial crisis, we pray that You will provide for us abundantly and give us vision for the way forward. Hear our prayer, O Lord, our God, as we pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Mission Moment from Jamaica
The United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI) is grateful to Global Ministries of the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ for their continual partnership over the years. This past academic year, Global Ministries has contributed significantly to advancing our institution’s mission. UTCWI implemented a student management system to enhance the services it offers to students. The system tracks documentation and processes student records from enrolment to graduation. UTCWI also completed repairs to the damage done to our property during Hurricane Melissa. Some apartment roofs, where students and other residents reside, were damaged. The repairs allow us to continue accommodating the student residents in those apartments. We were able to complete these projects thanks to our partnership with Global Ministries.
