Prayers for Zambia

Almighty and Everlasting God,
We give you thanks for the opportunity to be your children.
Thank you for the gift of land, which is our inheritance.
We pray that we may use this inheritance for your name’s benefit and glory.
As you call us in your vineyard, we ask for your protection,
Grant us peace of mind to acknowledge your grace and kindness.
May the exceeding joy of Jesus become a beacon of our Christian faith and witness.
We pray for the excellent stewardship of the abundant resources you have given to our Country, Zambia. May the Leaders use these resources for the good of all people.
We also pray for the work and ministry of TEEZ.
Grant us the strength to fulfill our vision of ‘preparing all God’s people for works of Christian service’ (Ephesians 4:12).
May our ecumenical witness to the Christian fraternity of the ten TEEZ member churches bring transformation that will enhance healthy and vibrant families, churches, and communities.

This we ask through the merits of your son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen

Mission Moment from Zambia

Partnership in mission is an excellent tool for promoting fellowship and companionship.
Theological Education by Extension in Zambia (TEEZ) has long companionship with the Disciples and UCC through Global Ministries. Through this partnership, TEEZ can engage local churches in mission, evangelism, and sustainable development. The partnership has continued to grow from time to time. Some examples of how this partnership is transforming people and making a difference in their lives are the BETTER Church and WISE Green Church Initiative.

Using BETTER (Building Excellent Transformation Theological Education Resilience) in church and society, TEEZ, with the support of the Global Ministries, can equip pastors and spouses with training in financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. This transforms pastors’ economic status and allows them to plan for retirement. Some trained pastors can invest in housing and agriculture initiatives to sustain their families while serving in Church.

The WISE (Wealth Integration Sustainable Environment) Green Church initiative is another supported project that promotes care of creation as part of environmental justice. Through training and support for vulnerable smallholder farmers, TEEZ has provided legumes such as groundnuts, soya beans, and sunflower seeds to improve household incomes and nutrition, thereby reducing the mentality of handouts.

As a result of this partnership, the local beneficiaries are moving from handouts to sustainability.
