Sabeel Wave of Prayer, week of October 25, 2015

Wave of Prayer: This prayer ministry enables local and international friends of Sabeel to pray over regional concerns on a weekly basis. Sent to Sabeel’s network of supporters, the prayer is used in services around the world and during Sabeel’s Thursday Communion service; as each community in its respective time zone lifts these concerns in prayer at noon every Thursday, this “wave of prayer” washes over the world.

The olive harvest has started in Palestine. Many Palestinian communities, who earn their living from this harvest, are unable to reach their olive groves due to the separation wall, or their proximity to illegal settlements, or because of military intervention. We lift our prayers for all those who are standing in solidarity with these Palestinian farmers, especially Rabbis for Human Rights who are taking the risk of helping them to harvest their produce. We give praise to you lord God, who through the mouth of your prophet proclaimed that one day “…they shall sit under their own vines and under their own fig trees and no one shall make them afraid” (Micah 4:4)

Lord hear our prayer/and let our cry come unto you

Since the rise of tensions in October, Israel has imposed a policy of strict restrictions on movement, in and around, Palestinian East Jerusalem. Some children are unable to get to their schools, many are late for work, the sick cannot reach their hospitals, all because of military checkpoints.

Lord, we pray that as you healed the crippled woman, set us free from our crippling situation, so that we may stand upright and continue to praise your name. (Luke 13:12)

Lord hear our prayer/and let our cry come unto you

The Sabeel Witness Visit will start on Tuesday 3rd of November. We pray for those preparing to join this trip. We pray that the visit will take place smoothly, and that the voices of the speakers will be heard and their experiences appreciated. Thank you lord for the safe arrival of the early comers, give all participants the energy, openness and intellectual curiosity to understand the situation and work towards what makes for peace.

Lord hear our prayer/and let our cry come unto you

We give thanks for the Sabeel ongoing local programs, for the youth programs in Nazareth as they meet weekly for fellowship. May the programs of Sabeel contribute to greater understanding, mutual respect, and a just peace.

Lord hear our prayer/and let our cry come unto you

We pray alongside the World Council of Churches for the countries of Indian Ocean Islands: Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles.
