Founded as a Christian ministry, Showers of Blessing seeks to provide clean water to communities in Zimbabwe. Serving communities regardless of their religion, race, tribe or political affiliation, Showers of Blessing is led by Zimbabweans and works as a liaison with local government and families in local communities.
Currently, Showers of Blessing is working with families in communities of the Insiza, Mberengwa, and Zvishavane districts. Each community is drilling new boreholes and beginning new nutrition gardens, which are now an option for communities with new, local water access. Showers of Blessing shares that the new water boreholes in these communities has reduced the distance women and girls, the ones who culturally are tasked with the chore of collecting water, need to walk for clean water. This gives women more time in the day for other tasks and activities, girls are in school for longer periods of the day, and there is more water for better nutrition and hygiene of all family members. Through the newly formed nutrition gardens in communities, families are able to add new foods to their meals and generate an income through the sale of produce from their gardens.
The cost of installing one new borehole totals $6,000.00. This includes the cost of a new water pump, drilling, and fitting for the borehole. Global Ministries welcomes gifts for the work of Showers of Blessing in Zimbabwe.
