Stony the Road: Women’s Voices of Faith, Courage, Resistance & Resilience

Virtual women’s forum sponsored by the World Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches

Monday, February 28, 2022 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Tuesday, March 8, 2022 12:00pm – 3:00pm

Please join us for a virtual forum for hearing the concerns of women in North America, which will be held in two parts from noon to 3 p.m. ET on Monday, February 28, 2022, and Tuesday, March 8, 2022, International Women’s Day. The theme for the event is, “Stony the Road: Women’s Voices of Faith, Courage, Resistance & Resilience” and uses Numbers 27:1-7 and 1 Corinthians 15:58 as scripture references. The event will examine the issues that women face in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico as they travel a stony road lifting up voices of faith, courage, resistance, and resilience.

The virtual forum will provide insight into the ongoing struggles and celebrations of women, especially women of color, in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Participants will explore ways in which women have been harmed by oppressive systems at the intersection of race and gender and explore what the church should be doing to dismantle these oppressive systems. Presenters will share narratives of liberation, courage, faith, and hope of women in North America as they have navigated the stony roads of life, systemic oppression, and misogyny and how our ongoing collaborative work might take shape in the future in order for authentic transformation to take place.

Video Submissions

As a part of the North American Women’s Pilgrim Team Visits, women of faith are invited to submit videos of 1-2 minutes based on the theme: Stony the Road: Women’s Voices of Faith, Courage, Resistance & Resilience. The video should highlight challenges women have faced, how their faith has played a role in overcoming those challenges, and their hopes for the future. We ask that videos be uploaded using this link no later than Friday, March 4th.
