Thirty Years of Partnership: Building Hope, Leadership, and Lasting Change in Guatemala
As Global Ministries marks three decades of partnership and accompaniment around the world, Global Ministries partner, Acción Cultural Guatemalteca (ACG – Guatemalan Cultural Action), reflects on the transformative impact of sustained collaboration and the hope it continues to inspire for the future.
Looking back on both the struggles and achievements of the past, there is a renewed sense of optimism that today’s challenges can be overcome. Despite the complexities facing communities and nations, there remains a strong belief that a brighter horizon lies ahead. This hope is rooted not only in faith but also in the tangible results of long-term relationships built on trust, mutual respect, and shared commitment.
Over the years, Global Ministries has walked alongside communities in Guatemala during times of significant change and challenge. Through support for participatory training, ACG has been empowered to better understand the realities shaping the country and its communities. These efforts have helped strengthen local capacity and encouraged thoughtful engagement with the social, economic, and cultural issues Guatemalans face each day.
One of the most visible outcomes of this partnership is the growth of community leadership, particularly among young people and women. Educational initiatives supported through the partnership with Global Ministries have increased community involvement and fostered broader participation in family and local affairs. Young people have become more engaged in shaping their communities, while women have taken on increasingly active and influential roles.

Where women’s participation in the community was once limited, there is now a growing culture of active engagement and leadership.
