Global Ministries delegation visits the NESSL

A delegation from the board of Global Ministries, the United Church of Christ (UCC) and the Disciples of Christ has visited the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL), on Thursday, September 25, and met with some of its leaders including two pastors from Syria.

Dr. Peter Makari, who is the Middle East and Europe Executive of the board of Global Ministries, guided the group during their visit in the Middle East.

“You are exactly correct when you say that we are here to express solidarity.. We are here to listen and to learn”, Peter Makari stated  while visiting the National Evangelical offices. The delegation met with pastors and Preacher from Syria and Lebanon, they declared their concern to find out how to interpret the situation on the ground to their churches back in the USA. Pastor Farah, who is serving churches in the North East of Syria, shared about the challenges of daily life, the lack of electricity and water, the fears and threats that led many to immigrate. Yet he also shared about the blessings that the churches are experiencing in that region.

We express a deep gratitude to all the partners and friends who visit us in these very difficult days. We are encouraged by your concern and love.

The members of the delegation are:
