Webinar May 25th: “Pal’ Norte” – A View of Migration in the Central American Northern Triangle
Churches are involved in immigration campaigns and question U.S policies regarding the rights and guarantees of this population once they arrive in the country. However, they are also concerned and want to understand, more comprehensively, the social, economic, ecological, political, and cultural issues that cause the phenomenon of migration, particularly from the countries that are part of “the Northern Triangle” (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador). In that sense, three Global Ministries’ partner organizations in Central America have agreed to speak to the situation in the Northern Triangle and its implications for migratory flows through the region.
This webinar will be held on May 25th, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM ET. The goals of this webinar are: to reflect on the causes that cause migration in the area of the Northern Triangle in Central America; to present the alternatives and work of Global Ministries partners (Christian Commission for Development in Honduras, the Salvadorian Lutheran Synod, and the Christian Ecumenical Council of Guatemala), and to respond to questions and concerns of the participants.

Las iglesias participan en campañas migratorias y cuestionan las políticas de EE. UU. sobre los derechos y garantías de esta población una vez que llegan al país. Sin embargo, también están preocupadas y quieren comprender, de manera más integral, los problemas sociales, económicos, ecológicos, políticos y culturales que provocan el fenómeno de la migración, particularmente de los países que forman parte del “Triángulo del Norte” (Guatemala, Honduras , y El Salvador). En ese sentido, tres organizaciones contrapartes de Ministerios Globales en Centroamérica han acordado hablar sobre la situación en el Triángulo Norte y sus implicaciones para los flujos migratorios a través de la región.
Este Seminario en Línea se llevará a cabo el 25 de mayo de 2022, de 3:00 P.M. a 4:30 P.M., hora del Este de los Estados Unidos. Los objetivos de este Seminario son: reflexionar sobre las causas que provocan la migración en la zona del Triángulo Norte en Centroamérica; presentar las alternativas y el trabajo de las contrapartes de Ministerios Globales en estos tres países (Comisión Cristiana para el Desarrollo en Honduras, el Sínodo Luterano Salvadoreño y el Concejo Ecuménico Cristiano de Guatemala), y responder a las preguntas e inquietudes de los participantes.
