Woman to Woman of Mexico Affirms Its Identity
In meeting at the assembly “Woman to Woman,” the women belonging to the General Assembly, to the Congregational Christian Churches in Mexico (JGICCM according to its initials in Spanish), to the Christian Churches Disciples of Christ (ICDC according to its initials in Spanish), and to the Confraternity of Christian Churches Disciples of Christ in Mexico (CICE DC according to its initials in Spanish), collaborating with the MESA CONJUNTA for the Development of the Mission in Mexico (MCDMM according to its initials in Spanish) as our intermediary and having spent time together with our sisters -pastors and leaders in Churches Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada on the committee Woman to Woman motivated by Global Ministries, we stress the next principles/ the next declaration:
1. Being aware of our identity as women created in divine image and likeness, trained to set forth on a journey to a life in full relation with our surroundings and with ourselves, we reaffirm our wish to strengthen such identity in a community process of information, training, education and renovation.
2. We were created in God’s image and likeness. We recognize each other as such.
3. We were empowered to recognize ourselves just as we are. No more, no less. We were empowered for the diverse roles we have decided to play in our independent existence. We are whole and complete by ourselves, not for our duties, belongings or our lacks, but because we are. We are complete with or without partner, with or without children. We are whole and complete no matter what tasks we are given to do, no matter what situation we are under –by choice or not.
4. We understand that our voice gets stronger when we speak all together, either to sing a joyful song or to cry in pain, either to denounce or to thank.
5. We want to strengthen and support each other. We want to complement each other’s path by sharing our experiences and learn from those experiences our sisters share with us.
6. We won’t weaken each other by wrongly degrading, discriminating, judging, prejudging, undervaluing or by ignoring each other’s rights and voices. We won’t risk our effort to encourage women’s dignity as one by assuming the wrong attitudes.
7. We understand that our freedom and our empowering as women happen as we break free from prejudgments and established roles assigned to human sectors based on gender, age, ethnic group and other characteristics –which we won’t recognize as differences that can divide us but as diversity that complements us.
Thus our statements do not intend to be a declaration of war but a statement of principles wishing for a society every time more informed, united in love and respect and therefore more fair.
We open our hearts and mind to diversity that exists as much in human characteristics as in the experiences of every woman, which have to be listened if an option that promotes life for everyone wants to be offered.
Having lived an experience of freedom, fraternity and challenge in the congress we have celebrated, we become an effort represented now in the proclaimed Woman to Woman Mexican Committee which will be the representative for the Women’s Society of every Church Confraternity represented in the MESA CONJUNTA for the Development of the Mission in Mexico.
In this way we expect to continue with the group work to promote the biblical-theological education and the experience in community we need for the progress of our job to promote a full life for every woman in her environment.
We are one in the same spirit that expresses itself differently in every personality.
We are one in the same faith that reveals itself in the different ways it is expressed.
We are one, complemented by the creativity of every woman.
We affirm our diversity, independence and, in the middle of such richness, our union as well.
We plant firmly the flag of our liberating Christ.
We, the women represented now in the Woman to Woman Mexican Committee, have spoken.

Nosotras, las mujeres reunidas en el encuentro “Mujer a mujer”, pertenecientes a la Junta General de Iglesias Cristianas Congregacionales de México (JGICCM), Iglesias Cristianas Discípulos de Cristo (ICDC) y Confraternidad de Iglesias Cristianas Evangélicas Discípulos de Cristo (CICE DC), en labor unida mediando la Mesa Conjunta para el Desarrollo de la Misión en México (MCDMM) y habiendo compartido con nuestras hermanas pastoras y líderes de Iglesias Discípulos de Cristo en Estados Unidos y Canadá por el comité “Woman to woman” impulsado por Ministerios Globales, expresamos estos principios/ esta declaración:
1. Conscientes de nuestra identidad como mujeres creadas a imagen y semejanza divina, capacitadas para emprender trayecto rumbo a una vida plena en relación con nuestro entorno y nosotras mismas, reafirmamos nuestro deseo de fortalecer esta identidad en un proceso comunitario de información, capacitación, educación y renovación.
2. Somos creadas a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Nos reconocemos como tales, unas a otras.
3. Somos empoderadas para reconocernos tal cual somos; no más, no menos. Somos empoderadas sobre la autonomía de nuestra existencia en la diversidad de roles que hemos elegido asumir. Completas por nosotras mismas; no por nuestras funciones, posesiones o carencias, sino porque somos. Completas con pareja o sin pareja, seamos o no madres; ejerzamos las labores que estén en nuestras manos, o cualquier situación en la que nos encontremos por decisión o diversas circunstancias ajenas a nuestra voluntad.
4. Entendemos que nuestra voz se hace más fuerte cuando la alzamos todas a una voz, ya sea en un canto de gozo, el llanto de dolor, la denuncia y la gratitud.
5. Queremos fortalecernos una a la otra. Respaldarnos y complementar nuestro conmino, aprendiendo a recibir lo que nuestras hermanas pueden aportar y agregando respectivamente a su camino, aquello que podemos ofrecer.
6. Que no nos debilitaremos entre nosotras, participando de prácticas incorrectas como degradar, discriminar, poner bajo palabra de juicio o prejuicio, ignorar los derechos y voz, menospreciar y demás actitudes que desfavorecen el esfuerzo por fomentar la dignidad de las mujeres como una sola.
7. Entendemos que la libertad y el empoderamiento de la mujer va de la mano con la liberación de roles y prejuicios y asignados a cada sector de la humanidad, ya sea por género, por edad, etnia y otras características; mismas que no han de reconocerse como diferencias que nos dividen, sino como la diversidad que nos complementa.
Por esto, nuestras afirmaciones no intentan ser una declaración de guerra sino de principios, en el deseo de lograr una sociedad cada vez más informada, unida en amor, respeto y por tanto, cada vez más justa.
Abrir nuestro corazón y nuestra mente a la diversidad que, así como existe en las características humanas, existe en las experiencias de vida de cada mujer; mismas que por tanto deben ser escuchadas si se desea ofrecer una opción que promueva la vida para cada cual.
Habiendo vivido una experiencia de libertad, fraternidad y reto en este celebrado encuentro, nos constituimos como un esfuerzo representado en el ahora nombrado Comité Mujer a Mujer Mexicana, en el cual encontremos portavoz las sociedades femeniles de cada confraternidad de Iglesias representadas en la Mesa Conjunta para el Desarrollo de la Misión en México.
De este modo, esperamos continuar con las labores conjuntas que promuevan la educación bíblica-teológica, así como la experiencia en comunidad que requerimos para el progreso de nuestra labor promoviendo vida plena para cada mujer y su entorno.
Somos una, en el mismo espíritu que se expresa en cada diferente personalidad.
Somos una, en la misma fe que se manifiesta en las diferentes maneras de expresarla.
Somos una misma, complementada en la creatividad de cada mujer.
Afirmamos nuestra diversidad, autonomía y en medio de esta riqueza, la unidad.
Afirmamos bandera en un Cristo liberador.
Nosotras, las mujeres ahora representadas en el Comité Mujer a Mujer Mexicana, nos hemos expresado.
