Pray with France, July 13, 2025
Lectionary Selection: Luke 10: 25-37
Prayers for France

God, you love the world, and I have a place in it. This good news is true for me, for each and every one of us, and for the whole world. Whatever our convictions, our traditions, our identities, our life choices, you love us and welcome us into your midst. Growing up, building up, stumbling, walking, running, going backwards… Whatever stage we’re at, Lord, you walk with us. Lord, you walk beside us.
God, you love the world, and I am not alone. My brother and sister are works of your creation, and meeting them moves me. Our differences, our contradictions, our spiritualities are treasures to be discovered and shared. In your Church, on its threshold or outside it, you place within me a desire for dialogue, listening, and fraternity.

God, you love the world, and you give me courage. In the face of hatred and violence, in the face of individualism and ignorance, when I encounter illness and death, I feel sad and upset. Your unconditional love overwhelms me and is a source of hope. You call me to be a witness to a living word; you give me the strength to dare to be a peacemaker in this world.
Amen
Prayer written by Daniel from the spiritual vision of the Grand KIFF Youth Gathering
Mission Moment from France

The “Grand KIFF” is a big youth gathering every four years organised by the United Protestant Church in France. (“Kiffer” in French means ‘appreciate’ or ‘love.’) The main objective of the GrandKIFF is to allow an encounter between young people and Jesus Christ by promoting dynamics of individual and collective commitment and community responsibility. We want to allow young people to grow in their faith and to find a place in the life of the Church with spaces dedicated to them.
The theme of this edition of Grand KIFF is “Breathe, Hope. To receive his peace in order to act with hope” (from the text Jn 20:19-23). Wars, global warming, social fractures, and individualism can be a source of fear for all of us. In this world, God breathes into us a universal message of peace, love, and hope. As we are, God welcomes us and we have a place in the world during this Grand KIFF. In turn, we are witnesses of this message, bringing a living hope around us.

As the last edition in 2021 was organized in the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, we give this new edition a very open and international dimension. We look with joy at sister churches to share this moment with us and to encounter at the “Meeting Tent of the Universal Church” (in allusion to Ex 27,21).
