Prayers for Sri Lanka

Let us pray.

Gracious and loving God, our Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You for Your unfailing love, mercy, and faithfulness. You are our refuge and strength.

We remember those longing to return to their homes within the High Security Zones. Grant them justice, peace, and restoration. Comfort all who mourn the loss of loved ones through war, disasters, and the recent Dithwa cyclone. Heal their hearts and renew their hope.

We pray for young people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Set them free and lead them into Your saving grace. Strengthen young widows, separated families, vulnerable children, and elderly people in care homes, especially those who feel abandoned.

Bless the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM), its pastors, leaders, volunteers, and partner congregations. Strengthen its ministry among children, plantation communities, the poor, and marginalized.

We thank You for the enduring partnership of CACM, UCC, and Global Ministries since 1816. Continue to unite us in faith and service, especially in times of suffering and disaster. Guide us to be faithful witnesses of Your love, justice, peace, and hope.

We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Mission Moment from Sri Lanka

Bringing Hope Through Christ

I invite you to celebrate what God is doing through the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM). Our mission is to proclaim the Gospel in both word and deed, sharing Christ’s love with those who are often forgotten and vulnerable.

During the final stages of the civil war in Northern Sri Lanka, thousands of families fled their homes under extremely difficult and dangerous conditions. Many were exhausted, hungry, thirsty, and frightened. With the support of Global Ministries and the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ (IKC), CACM, together with our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters, provided drinking water, food, medicines, sanitary supplies, clothing, and other essential items. We also organized mobile medical clinics, temporary shelters, and educational support for displaced children.

Today, our ministry continues among children in Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka through after-school programs, spiritual guidance, community medical programs, and educational support. We also serve tea plantation communities and vulnerable families through pastoral care, community development, and practical compassion.

We thank God for the enduring partnership between CACM, Global Ministries, and IKC, which has enabled us to serve faithfully in times of crisis and beyond.

Every prayer, gift, and act of service becomes a channel of God’s hope and healing. Let us continue to pray, give, and serve faithfully, so that Christ’s love may reach many more lives.
