Evangelical Pentecostal Union of Venezuela (UEPV)

Unión Evangélica Pentecostal Venezolana
In 1961, the Latin America and Caribbean Secretariat of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church of the United States and Canada, represented by Dr. Mae Yoho Ward and Dr. Tomás Liggett, president of the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico and a renowned ecumenical speaker, learned of the UEPV’s interest in working toward Church Unity. From then on, a series of visits and discussions took place, culminating in the appointment of Reverend Juan Marcos Rivera, of the Disciples of Christ Church, one of the first secretaries of CLAI, as a Fraternal Worker in Venezuela assigned by this Church to the UEPV, where he served for many years. In 1963, a fraternal agreement was signed between the UEPV and the Disciples of Christ Christian Church, which remains in effect today. The UEPV is a progressive, grassroots denomination that arose from the Assemblies of God. Known for its social activism, the UEPV engages in community projects, including literacy programs, care for vulnerable women (including those with disabled children), and peace initiatives. It maintains a long-term partnership with Global Ministries.
